Reading Programs

CPP offers reading programs perfect for libraries or classrooms.

Charlie Spinning
We read Charlie Needs a Cloak by Tomie dePaola with our own “Charlie” doll and show children the many steps of wool processing in a hands-on manner.  We bring wool that was shorn from our sheep (and washed), teach the children to card it, discuss spinning, and then show the children how to hand-spin a tuft of wool.  We also bring samples of natural dyes and woven cloth, and finish with a simple craft that uses the samples of wool from our sheep.

Cost: $350
Program length is 1- 1.5 hours.
Maximum group approximately 30 participants.

Traveling Demonstrations

CPP has knowledgeable colonial interpreters who can come to your public site or community event and give your visitors an experience of how things were done or made in the past. For the most part, in the modern world, we are very disconnected from how things are made. By seeing how much effort went into everyday activities, including play, during colonial times we not only have a greater appreciation for 18th century life, but also a greater appreciation for the conveniences we have now. CPP also has interpreters who can bring some extra fun to your young visitors by sharing the toys and games that children played with in the 18th century.

Cost Per Activity: $150 for the first hour
$25 for each additional hour, per activity
Maximum 6 hours

Activities:
~Carding and Spinning Wool
~Flax
~Quill Writing
~Colonial Toys and Games
